A good contested ball midfielder who reads the play well. Heppell is also a strong overhead mark for his size and has similar attributes to his older brother and Essendon star, Dyson. A strong character with a burning desire to succeed, Heppell has developed elite endurance, running a 14.10 beep test at the state combine. He showcased his leadership qualities in a strong season for Gippsland in the TAC Cup and can play anywhere from half-back, midfield, wing and even forward.
